  • Stock Market Gains by N77 Billion

Equity transactions on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed in an upbeat yesterday, as most blue chip companies appreciated in price, causing market capitalisation to increase by N77billion.

Yesterday, market capitalisation of listed equities rose by N77billion or 0.6 per cent to N12.750trillion against N12.673trillion recorded the previous day.

The NSE All -share index increased by 17.44 points, from 36617.45 to 36634.89.On the price movement chart, Mobil topped the gainers’ chart with 5.00 kobo to close at N170.00 per share, while Seven Up followed with 4.00 kobo to close at N90.00 per share.

International Breweries gained 1.80 kobo to close at N51.80 per share. PZ Cussons added 1.02 kobo to close at N21.42 per share. Guaranty Trust Bank appreciated by 0.60 kobo to close at N43.10 per share. BOC Gases added 0.41 kobo to close at N4.56 per share.

Stanbic IBTC garnered 0.10 kobo to close at N42.60 per share. Zenith Bank added 0.09 kobo to close at N24.04 per share. NPF Micro Finance Bank gained 0.05 kobo to close at N1.35 per share. Access Bank also appreciated by 0.05 kobo to close at N9.86 per share.

However, Seplat Petroleum Development Company on the contrary topped losers chart, shedding 5.00 kobo to close at N490.00 per share. Guinness Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of 1.00 kobo to close at N100.00 per share.

NASCON fell by 0.33 kobo to close at N14.30 per share. Dangote Sugar Refinery Nigeria Plc down by 0 30 kobo to close at N14.25 per share. FBNHoldings also depreciated by 0.28 kobo to close at N6.62 per share.

Nigerian Breweries was the most active stock during the day, trading 68.290 million shares worth N9.492billion. Zenith International Bank followed with 18.632 million shares valued at N448.732million.

Access Bank traded 14.415 million shares cost N142.185million. FBNHoldings exchanged 13.809 million shares at N92.775million. C&I Leasing sold 12.857 million shares worth N16.099million.

Investors yesterday traded 217.750 million shares worth N11.705billion in 3088 deals. This is against 184.247 million shares valued at N3.324billion in 3590 deals.
