The Federal Government has said it will accelerate the implementation of anti-dumping mechanism as part of its effort to boost industrialisation.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja during a media briefing.

Some of them are the installation 18,000 kilometres of fibre optic to improve broadband penetration and strategic power projects totalling 4.2GW of electricity.

The minister said the council had also set up five sub-committees with five focus areas identified as necessary to fulfil its objectives.

The focus area are critical infrastructure, skills and capacity building, try and market access, policy and regulation, and financing.

He explained that the industrial council, which is chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, also agreed to work on other areas such as the recently approved Road Trust Scheme to accelerate construction of national priority roads across the country; and implement an apprenticeship programme to bridge the gap between industry skills requirement and supply from educational institutions.

Reacting to the recent improved ranking of Nigeria on the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report, the minister stated, “We are are delighted about the progress made on the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report, which saw Nigeria rise 24 places from 169 to 145.

“I want to reiterate that we are not resting on our laurels. In fact, this gives us the impetus to work even harder. We are committed to deepening ongoing reforms. We are already rolling out the next 60-day action plan that will see us embark on new reforms areas as well as institutionalise the ones currently being enforced.”
