NNPC Reopens Ibadan Depot

  • NNPC Reopens Ibadan Depot

The Group Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, on Wednesday reopened the NNPC depot in the Apata area of Ibadan, Oyo State after some years of inactivity.

Baru said that President Muhammadu Buhari was concerned about ease of fuel distribution and supply to every part of the company, which he said informed his commitment to upgrading of storage facilities across Nigeria.

He stated that the reopening of the depot would ease the stress of transporting fuel from Lagos to Ibadan.

He said, “I want to commend President Buhari for his commitment to the upgrading of storage and distribution facilities across the country. With the reopening of the depot, avenue for employment opportunities and socio-economic advancement has been created.”

The NNPC GMD also urged the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, to ensure provision of adequate security for the various facilities at the depot.

The Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, Suleiman Oladiti, commended the Federal Government for deeming it fit to restore the depot and other ones across the country.

He said, “With the turnaround of the depots in Aba, Ejigbo, Lagos, Mosimi, Kano and now Ibadan, the government has set the pace for steady supply of oil across the country.”
