- CAC Gets SON Certification for Ease of Doing Business
The Corporate Affairs Commission has been awarded the certificate of conformity to standards by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
The certificate was given in recognition of the progress so far made by the commission in facilitating the ease of doing business.
The Director-General, SON, Mr. Osita Aboloma, who presented the certificate to the Registrar-General, CAC, Bello Mahmud, in Abuja, explained that the commission was found to have complied with all the requirements for its issuance.
Mahmud said that the journey, which culminated in the award, started in 2007 when the commission obtained its first certification based on the NIS ISO 9001,-2000 standards.
He added that as a result of the introduction of NIS ISO 9001,-2008 standards, the CAC converted and obtained a new certificate in 2010 for a period of three years, which expired in 2013.
‘’I am happy that this epoch-making event is taking place towards the end of my tenure as the chief executive officer of the commission, more so being the only CEO that has achieved three ISO certification within eight years, and the commission being the first Federal Government agency to obtain the ISO 9001,-2015,” Mahmud stated.
He said that since the commission subscribed to the quality management system, it had witnessed remarkable improvement in service delivery.
“Ours is to enhance service delivery, make our processes easier for customers on the ease of doing business; the government says we must register companies within 24 hours, we have achieved that with this certification; it is to enhance economic development,” he added.
Mahmud gave the assurance that investors could now register their businesses with the commission online without necessarily coming down to its office, an advantage he noted had facilitated more foreign direct investments into the country.
