- Lagos Trade Fair to Focus on Economic Recovery
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the organiser of the Lagos International Trade Fair, has chosen to drive home the message of economic recovery during the 2017 edition of the fair.
According to the Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, LCCI, Mr. Sola Oyetayo, the fair will be anchored on the need to achieve economic recovery through industrialisation.
He said that the theme of the fair, which was “Promoting Industrialisation for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Growth,” was relevant to the current economic realities in Nigeria.
He said, “The realities clearly require the support of all stakeholders to work towards the recovery and sustainability of our nation’s economy.
“With the provision of enabling business environment, industriali-sation is a major springboard to economic recovery and massive job creation.”
The highlights of the fair, according to him will include an international investment conference scheduled for November 2, a day before the commencement of the fair.
The conference would be cantered on the ease of doing business, Oyetayo added, stressing that it would provide a platform for the industrial and services sectors to interact with relevant players in the economy.
He noted that international experts and members of the diplomatic community were also expected at the international investment conference.
In addition to the international investment conference, the event would feature a general consumer fair at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
The trade promotion board chairman disclosed that 500,000 visitors and over 2,000 exhibitors from over 15 countries were expected at the general consumer fair expected to last 10 days.
The fair would also feature Business to Business Meeting, Secondary School Essay Competition and Lagos Creative Industry Fair.
All the activities are to culminate in a ‘Special Day’ for state governments, embassies of countries and other exhibitors to promote their products, services and culture to potential clients and investors.
