  • Kano Signs $4bn Contracts With 10 Firms

The Kano State Government on Wednesday signed a number of contracts worth over $3.98bn with 10 local and foreign investors as the fallout of the second Kano Economic and Investment Summit.

Briefing stakeholders, after signing the contracts to wrap up the two-day summit, the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, said, “Kano used to be a city; but we want it to become a mega city, a place where things are working; where services are working, electricity is available, without interruption and is adequate for industries; and adequate for private consumption.

He gave a list of the companies as Brains and Harmers, N165bn; Multivision Nigeria Limited, N2bn; Milestone International, $630m; Blackrihino and Dangote Consulting, $150m; Broadbased Nigeria Limited, $200m; Eighteenth Engineering company, $1.8bn; and Arewa Solar PV Synergy, $150m;

Others are Shara Dukiya Nigeria Limited, $100m; Dangote Rice, $830m; and Qingdao St Meer Solar Energy International, $120m.

“A mega city is a city, where transportation system is efficient, a mega city is a place where industrial development is optimum, so that there will be a minimum level of unemployment,” the governor added.
