The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has restated the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to workers’ welfare.

Ngige said that the Federal Government was aware of the economic hardship faced by the Nigerian workers and was optimistic that things would improve.

The minister’s comments were contained in a message to workers on the forthcoming 2017 May Day celebrations obtained by our correspondent on Friday.

The Deputy Director in charge of Media at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Samuel Olowookere, signed the statement.

He commended the Labour movement for supporting the government’s change agenda and campaign against corruption.

“The Federal Government is not unaware of the economic challenges facing Nigerian workers in the public, the private and informal sector of the economy. We appreciate your resilience and hope for better days ahead.

“May I use this occasion to appreciate Nigerian workers for their contributions to national development, unequivocal solidarity to the Change Agenda and the fight against corruption of the present administration under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Mr. President is committed to the enhancement of workers’ welfare, through programmes like the Federal Integrated Staff Housing Scheme, creation of enabling environment to stimulate the economy with the aim of improving the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians in all sectors of the economy.”

The minister urged the Nigerian workers to sustain the support for the change agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.
