The Associate Director, Technological Advisory, KPMG, John Anyanwu, says that dearth of skills is limiting the fight against cyberattacks in the country. Anyanwu, who spoke at a press conference in Lagos, said that the number of skilled people who could detect, protect and respond to cyber security threats was limited.

He added that the level of expertise required to protect business organisations and their infrastructure from cyberattacks were inadequate.

According to him, as the digital penetration in Nigeria and Africa continues to increase, organisations’ exposure to risk will also rise.

A Partner & Head, Technology Advisory & Markets, KPMG, Joseph Tegbe, warned companies to avoid losing their vital information and revenue by creating a secure cyber ecosystem.

He said this and many other issues surrounding cyber security would be discussed at the KPMG Africa Cyber Security Conference holding in Lagos.

He explained that the Pan-African conference themed: ‘Security and Resilience in a Digital World’, would bring together stakeholders across Africa to discuss cyber security and resilience as they affected organisations, governments, entities and individuals in the emerging digital Africa.

According to him, the conference aims to enlighten participants on leading practices and solutions for individuals and organisations towards building a more secure and resilient cyber ecosystem as Africa goes digital.

“At the event, KPMG will also be launching its Africa Cyber Security Report titled: ‘Security and Resilience in a Digital World,’” Tegbe added.
