Pro-Buhari Group Dares IPOB, MASSOB, March in Anambra

  • Pro-Buhari Group Dares IPOB, MASSOB, March in Anambra

A group under the aegis of #we stand for Buhari# on Friday in Awka, Anambra State staged a support rally for the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

This was despite the warning by the Biafra agitators to stop the rally at all cost.

The Indigenous People of Biafra had on Thursday vowed to use ‘all available means’ to stop the rally.

IPOB, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Emma Powerful, said “IPOB will use all available means to stop this show of crass insensitivity to our brave heroes and heroines killed by Buhari.”

The leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Soverein State of Biafra, Mr Uchenna Madu had issued similar threat on Wednesday.

But no fewer than 25,000 members of the pro- Buhari group had converged on the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square as early as 10am on Friday to show their solidarity to the president who returned to the country same day.

Led by the National Media Director of the organisation, Mr. Chijioke Onyekaonwu, the group took to major streets of the capital city.

Speaking, Onyekaonwu said that his group was supporting the Buhari administration so that nothing would truncate the Igbo presidency project in 2023 after Buhari’s tenure.

He maintained that the group would resist anything that would hinder Buhari from completing his two term tenures so that the Igbo would have an unfettered access to the Nigerian presidency thereafter.

His address read in part, “History always repeats itself but the Igbo proverb, ‘a tree does not prick a man’s eyes twice’, says it all as regards the Igbo political interest as it stands now.

“The political opportunity for Igbo to clinch the presidency in 2015 was lost due to the political selfishness of the Igbo political elite who abandoned the support for a Northern candidate to complete the Yar’adua administration’s second tenure.”
