A Boost For Made-in-Nigeria, as King of Morocco Visits Okunoren Twins

  • A Boost For Made-in-Nigeria, as King of Morocco Visits Okunoren Twins

The Made-In-Nigeria campaign got major boost recently, as King Mohammed VI of Morocco, who had commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for the drive to buy made in Nigeria products, visited the Lagos store of renowned menswear brand, Okunoren Twins in Dolphin Estate.

The brand, which is well known within and outside the shores of the country as a mark of quality in Men’s tailoring is no stranger to monarchy, having been the first indigenous company to receive a royal warrant from the late Ooni of Ife. The brand’s tagline; Conceived in Africa, which lends credence to the promotion of African ideas and solutions toward solving African challenges, rings very true at a time like this.

Over the past few decades, majority of the clothing worn in Nigeria and perhaps Africa has always been imported from Asia and Europe. But today, there are few outstanding brands that are able to provide a substitute for imported clothing and Okunoren is top among them.

Established in 2002 by brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Okunoren, the company has grown in leaps and bounds over the years and has clothed celebrities and Captains of Industry the world over. It was therefore no surprise that this was the brand chosen by King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

The King of Morocco was recently on a state visit to Nigeria, where he led a 300-man delegation to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari and numerous other government officials, as well as members of the Private sector, in order to firm up bilateral agreements between both nations. In his entourage were his cousin, Prince Moulay Ismail and his Agriculture and Fisheries minister, billionaire Aziz Akhannouch. The billionaire monarch has been visiting various African countries in a bid to strengthen ties and diversify its partnerships.
