First Bank of Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to economic diversification through support for the business, art and entertainment of food across all sectors of the economy.

The bank, in a statement on Wednesday, announced the partnership with Eventful Limited, an event management company, to host another edition of ‘Fiesta of Flavours,’ a food and beverage fair scheduled for December 11 and 12, 2016 in Lagos.

It said it was taking ownership of the food space to fully promote businesses that would build the sector, boost revenue for development purposes, create employment opportunities and, in the long run, translate to national growth and development.

According to the statement, the two-day food and beverage fair will keep attendees fully fed and entertained with the allures of food culinary and its business.

It said it would showcase the best in local and international cuisine, cutting-edge food technology and cooking techniques, as well as the best beverages and wines the world has to offer.

The lender said the fair would provide management and training seminars, competitions, and food demonstrations as well as performances from Nigeria’s A-list musicians and comedians.

The FirstBank’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Folake Ani-Mumuney, was quoted as saying, “The bank’s venture into the food space is part of its interventions to support agriculture across the entire value chain as well as promote economic growth and sustainability, especially in the face of dwindling oil revenue.

“We are also keen on promoting a united community through the arts and the Fiesta of Flavours would bring youths and families together to enjoy the entertainment value of food.”

The Chief Executive Officer, Eventful, Mrs. Yewande Zaccheaus, said, “We are indeed pleased to be partnering with FirstBank and are thankful for their support in the hosting of the Fiesta of Flavours from inception.

“There is so much for us as Nigerians to learn, see, feel and experience about our food and we invite you on a culinary journey to discover the splendid art of food. Fiesta of Flavours will show that we have a rich heritage that can be expressed and exported all over the world.”
