NIIE to Grow Construction Industry Capacity
- NIIE to Grow Construction Industry Capacity
The Nigerian Institute of Industrial Engineers has unveiled a plan to grow capacity in the construction industry and ensure that the country meets a sizeable chunk of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The move will see the institute, which has its roots in the University of Ibadan, float an alumni association to act as a platform for engineering students.
According to the President, NIIE, Mr. Ayodeji Oluleye, innovation is the door to productivity and a catalyst for growth.
“We are currently in a recession, therefore, we must begin with the creation of real wealth to jump-start the growth process,” he said.
Oluleyereasoned that with innovation and development of technology, the country should achieve most of the goals by 2030 if industrial engineers collectively sought innovative, creative and productive avenues to boost work systems.
The Managing Director, Alphamead Facilities Management and Services Limited, Mr. Femi Akintunde, was given an award for his contribution to industrial development and professional excellence.
Akintunde said that while the major objective of the new initiative was to grow capacity in the industry, it would also foster synergy among stakeholders within the engineering profession.
