Gains in 23 Stocks Boost Capitalisation by N17bn

Owing to appreciation in the share prices of 23 firms, the Nigerian Stock Exchange market capitalisation rose by N17bn at the close of trading on the Exchange’ floor on Thursday.

The NSE market capitalisation closed at N9.471tn from N9.454tn, while the NSE All-Share Index appreciated to 27,574.09 basis points from 27,522.62 basis points.

A total of 11 stocks recorded various degrees of depreciation as 242.741 million shares worth N1.737bn were traded in 3,067 deals.

The maximum index point attained in the course of Thursday’s trade was 27,756.67 basis points, while the lowest and average index points were 27,503.81 and 27,574.09 basis points, respectively.

Conoil Plc, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, Trans-nationwide Express Plc, African Prudential Registrars Plc and AIICO Insurance Plc emerged as the top five gainers at the close of trading.

Conoil share price soared to N21.59 from N20.57, appreciating by N1.02 (4.96 per cent), while that of Vitafoam closed at N2.99 from N2.85, gaining N0.14 (4.91 per cent).

The shares of Trans-nationwide Express also appreciated by N0.05 (4.90 per cent) to close at N1.07 from N1.02, while those of African Prudential Registrars gained N0.11 (4.87 per cent) to close at N2.37 from N2.26.
