Seme Customs Command Exceeds Revenue Target by 40%

The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service said it generated N1.42bn for December, 2015, exceeding its monthly revenue target with N398.42m, amounting to 40 per cent.

This was achieved through 17 seizures with a duty paid value of N6.96bn for the month.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Selcheng Taupeng, said the revenue generated also exceeded the November 2015 collection by N146.98m, which he described as unprecedented.

The Acting Customs Area Controller, Sabo H.A, said, “This success story we have recorded is due to the determination and commitment demonstrated by officers and men of the command.

“This is in strict adherence to import procedures, guidelines and lifting of restriction on rice importation through the land borders which is processed strictly according to the official benchmark price of $470 per metric tonne.

“It will be recalled that the command in November 2015 exceeded its monthly revenue target of N1.021bn by 25 per cent.”

Sabo called on the host community and other stakeholders to support the service in order to achieve its mandate of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and facilitation of legitimate trade.

He said the command would continue to demonstrate its zeal for actualising the core mandate of the Customs’ policy thrust.
